Pastor Charles R. Whitfield

Pastor Charles Whitfield is the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, in Martinsville, VA. He accepted the call to the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach in July of 1994. It was in December of 1997 that a call was made to serve the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, VA where the Lord has blessed him to serve for over 22 years.

Pastor Whitfield holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education, a Masters of Arts degree in Human Services-Family & Marriage Counseling in addition, he holds a Master of Divinity degree from The School of Theology of Virginia Union University, in Richmond, VA. Pastor Whitfield has served on the Board of Directors for the Grace Network and United Way of Martinsville  & Henry County and has formerly served on the Advisory Council of Smart Beginnings of Henry County & Martinsville. Presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce; The Harvest Foundation as well as other community involvement. He serves also on the Board of Trustees for the Virginia University of Lynchburg as well as the Board of Trustees for his Alma Mater, Virginia Union University. He is also greatly involved in the denominational work of the Virginia Baptist State Convention where he serves as the current President. 

​For over 24 years, Pastor Whitfield has been married to the lovely Carmela Starkey of Wirtz, VA, and they have two dedicated & talented children (Chas and Charity).

Pastor Whitfield can be found at anytime serving the Kingdom of God through serving people because purposely pushing people towards their potential gives him his greatest joy.
