Charles Whitfield

Senior Pastor

Pastor Charles R. Whitfield is the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, in Martinsville, VA. He accepted the call to the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach in July of 1994, and has served the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, VA where the Lord has blessed him to served faithfully for over 26 years.
 

Pastor Whitfield holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education, a Masters of Arts degree in Human Services-Family & Marriage Counseling in addition, he holds a Master of Divinity degree from The School of Theology of Virginia Union University, in Richmond, VA. Pastor Whitfield has served on the Board of Directors for the Harvest Foundation, and the Economic Development Corporation for Martinsville & Henry County and currently serves with C-PEG (Chamber Partners for Economic Growth) and as President of the Minority Business Consortium of Martinsville & Henry County. 


He is a past Board of Trustee member for his Alma Mater, Virginia Union University and the Virginia University of Lynchburg. Pastor Whitfield serves his denomination and is the former President of the Virginia Baptist State Convention (VBSC) he served 4-years as President (2018-2021). And is currently serving as Moderator of the Smith River Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. Pastor Whitfield is a soon to be author (Winter 2025) his first published work will be released, entitled: "Anointed In The Moment".


For over 28 years, Pastor Whitfield has been married to the lovely Carmela Starkey of Wirtz, VA. They have two children who also serves in ministry (Chas and wife Summer and Charity). They are also proud grandparents of Monse' & Cansas.


Pastor Whitfield has clearly been called to serve the Kingdom of God through preaching, teaching and serving people.
