Pastor Charles R. Whitfield is the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, in Martinsville, VA. He accepted the call to the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach in July of 1994, and has served the First Baptist Church East Martinsville, VA where the Lord has blessed him to served faithfully for over 25 years.
Pastor Whitfield holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education, a Masters of Arts degree in Human Services-Family & Marriage Counseling in addition, he holds a Master of Divinity degree from The School of Theology of Virginia Union University, in Richmond, VA. Pastor Whitfield serves on the Board of Directors for the Harvest Foundation, C-PEG (Chamber Partners for Economic Growth) and the Economic Development Corporation for Martinsville & Henry County. He serves as President of the Minority Business Consortium of Martinsville & Henry County.
He is a past Board of Trustee member for his Alma Mater, Virginia Union University and the Virginia University of Lynchburg. Also, being greatly involved in the denominational work of the Virginia Baptist State Convention (VBSC) he served 4-years as President (2018-2021).
For over 27 years, Pastor Whitfield has been married to the lovely Carmela Starkey of Wirtz, VA. They have two dedicated & talented children (Chas and Charity).
Pastor Whitfield can be found at any time serving the Kingdom of God through serving people because purposely pushing people towards their potential gives him his greatest joy.
